Longtime friends and collaborators Ruthie Foster and Eric Bibb join forces to celebrate a night of joyful roots music. Performing both as solo artists and as collaborators, the title of the tour, Thanks for the Joy
, is drawn from a song written by Bibb to be performed by Foster.
Grammy nominee Ruthie Foster is one of the roots music world's brightest stars. Her latest album, Let It Burn
, is a recording that smolders, sizzles and ignites with an intensity born from her vibrant voice and indelible presence. The album had the Los Angeles Times
proclaiming, "to call Ruthie Foster a blues singer is to miss a big chunk of her allure as a vocal stylist, one who draws from a range of influences..."
Ruthie was among the most-honored artists at the 2012 Blues Music Awards with three nominations and two wins. She's made impact appearances at the New Orleans Jazz Heritage Festival, Monterey and North Sea Jazz Festivals and many more, as well as being featured on national programs such as Austin City Limits
, All Things Considered
and NPR's Weekend Edition
. Ruthie Foster is a powerful performer who always makes an emotional impact on her audiences.
Eric Bibb is a Grammy nominee and 2012 Blues Music Award winner whose lineage in the traditional blues sound has produced an earthy mix of folk and gospel-infused acoustic blues dating back to the work songs of the deep south. He brings that intensity of roots, along with what the Dayton Daily News
calls "grace, elegance and gentleness," to the concert stage as a mature and increasingly popular performer. Touring prestigious venues and festivals round the world, a performance by Eric Bibb is an enriching experience, both musically and spiritually. In addition to his Blues Music Award for best Acoustic Artist, he has been nominated for Blues Music Awards in multiple other categories as well as for a Swedish Grammy Award in the Folk Music category.
